Y'all. I''m bone tired. And that's okay. I'll own it. I'm 46 and have the privilege of calling Saint Simons Island, GA home, and Beaufort, SC as my adopted one. I am also blessed with two teenage daughters. They talk back, but they're bright and kind. I even managed to wine and dine a husband who unloads the dishwasher and disinfects counters unsolicited. Basically, lucky... because it hasn't a thing to do with me, a Magic 8 ball, or sage advice. I'm just along, in '70s speak, for the ever lovin' ride. Still. Tired. But I've managed to write all sorts of various things: I freelance for odds and ends and spare change. I've been a humor/lifestyle columnist for 9 years running. Since 2014 to date, I'm a columnist for one of the classiest, quirkiest, "maga-papers" out there, Lowcountry Weekly, where the late, great Pat Conroy frequently contributed. I've also been a contributing writer for Elegant Island Magazine since 2009. Oh, and I write poetry on the side for fun and retention of my sanity. I was awarded FIRST PLACE in Column Writing by the South Carolina Press Association two years running, both in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, my poem, "Cellular Romance", received an Honorable Mention by the Porter Fleming Literary Competition. Another one of my poems, "The Wedding Gown of Marriage", took first place in a national amateur poetry competition by Eber Publishing, awarding me the Grand Prize Honors. In both 2011 and 2012, I was voted best local writer by the readers of Elegant Island Living. My mission through words is to bring people closer together during these divisive times using a healthy dose of common sense, women's intuition, and compassionate humor. Point is, the stuff you will find here has no rhyme or reason, holds no known scientific validity, and is for sure riddled in errors and scuffed up thick with scabs like a toddlers knee. But it's my truth. It's what I've learned by accident. Come on in...and read.
